| ☆Final CADs or “Dramatic English Imitation” |
1. Confirm schedule and criteria. CAD day = 2/6. DEI day = 2/13. Both in I-132. Lunch before performance = final rehearsal (1pm~ I can help you) CAD = Upload outline (issue, opinion, 3 questions) on class site by 2/4. Stand in front of class, introduce an issue and your opinion (2 min.) + Lead a discussion (about 3 min.) Any controversial, academic issue is OK. DEI = Upload outline (name, title, reason, video, script) on class site by 2/11. Introduce video (1 min.), Play video (1 min.). Imitate video (1 min.) Any movie, lecture or other video is OK. 80 words or more. Pairs/groups OK too. 2. On the site, see the criteria for a good CAD and good DEI. Choose CAD or DEI, make schedule. CAD people meet with me to discuss CAD topics/skills. 3. Find the following website. Make sure you can log in for uploading outline. http://speaking-listening-mark.blogspot.jp/ 4. Decide your topic and your 1 minute video, or any collaboration you want to do. 5. Upload your Outline. Name, time, why?, video link, and transcript today if possible. 6. Start practicing! You need at least 20 practices to do it smoothly, possibly more. Listen and repeat and practice dramatically many times! |

Homework = By Monday before your performance, make sure all of your content is uploaded to the site. DEI: Find a approximately one-minute English video, with a transcript*, if possible, that you want to imitate. It can be a lecture, speech, news, movie, TV show, or any other type. You must have at least 80 words in it. If you want to work together with a partner, you can do a dialogue. *Remember, movie transcripts are available at http://www.imsdb.com/ |

Note: I will send these questions by email, along with your Video link (private), so please reply by 2/20 Wed by the latest. Sooner is best!Part 1: Performance (___/ 10pts, 10% in the Participation Grade)
Very Good! = 2pts, Good= 1.5pt, OK, good effort =1, Hmm...=0.5 Evaluation
1) I uploaded my outline (all info) to the class website on time by deadline. 2 1.5 1 0.5
2) I practiced and mastered the content well and spoke with 100% eye contact. 2 1.5 1 0.5
3) My voice was loud enough and clear enough to hear the words. 2 1.5 1 0.5
4) My voice (intonation, pausing, emphasis, emotion) was effective. 2 1.5 1 0.5
5) My body language was similar to the video, or was nicely dramatic. 2 1.5 1 0.5
Bonus 1~2pts = Costumes or other creative preparation or performance. Bonus = 2 1.5 1 0.5
For example, CADs can use PowerPoint or paper visuals.
